Summer may be but a hazy memory, but there’s still lots happening around East Gippsland to keep you out and about enjoying the mild weather without the holiday crowds of high season. Here’s a run down of some of our top picks for Autumn in East Gippsland…

Grab your mates and get on your bike!

Bikes, beers and buddies – sound like a fun weekend? We have two great packages on offer including accommodation for up to 10 people (min 4) at the beautiful Country House Retreat where you can relax with a well-earned beer in the outdoor spa after a long day on cycling fun.

Option 1: #NEWtoMTB

Day 1 - Learn some new mountain bike skills at the Colquhoun Mountain Bike Park with Venture Out.  Ride the Discovery Track and Rail Trail to Bruthen Bullant Brewery for a local beer and lunch.  Return via Venture Out shuttle for a well earned spa and pizza on your deck.

Day 2 - Pick a section of the Rail Trail or scenic coastal cycle track and explore the picturesque coastal countryside at your pace.  Includes mountain bike and return shuttle.

Option 2: #LOVEMTB

Day 1 - Ride the flowing singletrack of the Colquhoun Mountain Bike Park with Venture Out.  Then ride the Discovery track and Rail Trail to the Bruthen Bullant Brewery for a local beer and lunch.  Return via Venture Out shuttle for spa and pizza on your deck.

Day 2 - Relax, explore, paddle or fish the lake.  Enjoy great coffee at our local cafes.  Hit the Flow Track at Mt Taylor.  Venture Out shuttle providing uplift for each descent.

12th March - Hooked on Lakes Entrance

Seafood lovers will be in heaven at this one day food festival showcasing the impressive variety of seafood available in Lakes Entrance. For the bargain price of $4 for adults and $2 for kids, visitors can wander through the pop up stalls offering samples and also enjoy cooking demonstrations by top chefs plus fishing demonstrations and tours. Follow your taste buds to the Lakes Entrance foreshore (including the footbridge) between 11AM – 5PM, 12th March.

14thto 19th March – Australian Beach Games Lakes Entrance

Celebrating two things we Aussies are very passionate about - the beach and sport - the inaugural Lakes Entrance Australian Beach Games will be encouraging everyone to kick off their shoes and get sand between their toes and have lots of fun. 17thto 19th March – Food Truck Carnivale, Lakes Entrance

Once you’ve worked up an appetite from participating or watching all the fun on the sand it’s time to head to the fabulous Food Truck Carnivale which is taking place in conjunction with the Beach Games. Over a dozen food trucks will mean there is something to suit everyone and once the hungry bellies are taken care of the fun continues with outdoor movies, jumping castles and live music for all the family to enjoy. The Food Truck Carnivale will be open 12-9PM from the 17th until 19th March at The Rotunda (foreshore) in Lakes Entrance. 19th March – Opera by the Lakes

This amazing annual event just seems to get bigger every year and this certainly won’t disappoint with Silvie Paladino, Georgia Wilkinson, Jeremy Kleeman and Il Davo five tenors all performing. The location is simply stunning in a natural amphitheatre overlooking the lakes at Nyerimilang Heritage Park. Pack a picnic or pre-order one to collect at the venue and enjoy a magical afternoon. We're very spoilt in East Gippsland to have wonderful markets on every weekend somewhere in the region. Here is a run down of where and when they happen each month;
