In and Around Nungurner

  • With the Gippsland Lakes on your doorstep, get out and make a splash!  The foreshore area at Nungurner provides sheltered, sandy access to the lake, ideal for a paddle or a swim for all ages.
  • Bring your canoe, kayak, paddle board or boat to venture out and explore the Lakes, nearby islands and inland waterways.  Jetty Road Retreat also offers complimentary kayaks with paddles and vests for guest use.
  • Try your luck fishing off the jetties, and admire the serene sight of yachts bobbing at anchor nearby (keep your eye out for a pod of dolphins!).
  • For some two wheel adventures bring your mountain bike and ride old growth forest at nearby Colquhoun State Forest.  Or you can choose from a range of hire and tour options with Venture Out. For adventure seekers we highly recommend speaking to Sarah and the team at Venture Out. Whether it's on water adventures such as standing up paddle boarding or kayaking or two wheeled adventures. Venture Out has your covered with a range of equipment hire options plus guided tours.
  • Pack a picnic and drive a few minutes to Nyerimilang Park, a historic homestead set in beautiful gardens with clifftop views of the Lakes and a variety of scenic walking tracks.
  • Check out the studio of Nungurner’s contemporary jewellery makers Oneofftwo, and take home a beautiful keepsake from your visit.
  • Head to a weekend farmers' market and stock up on some superb local produce from East Gippsland.  If you are travelling midweek you can pick up a range of local produce from the Metung Village Store.
  • Grab some fish and chips and sit and watch the fishing fleets returning at Lakes Entrance.
  • Or simply slow down, put your feet up, pour a glass of wine and breathe in the beautiful landscapes that surround you here.
